Abstract

The famous patriotic family Deralla, for several centuries it belongs to Tetovo, whiles originating from the village of Gradec, a settlement between Tetovo and Gostivar. It is not known exactly when this family has arrived in Tetovo, but it is considered that they have come earlier than Hasan Pashë Deralla for whom there is evidence that he gave a great contribution to his patriotic activity in Tetovo. Hasan Pasha Deralla has worked for the organization and holding of the League of Prizren Conference in 1878, being its political representative, as evidenced by several written acts. He was one of the representatives of the "Memorandum", which was dedicated to the foreign factor for Albanian national independence. In 1901, his son Mehmet Pashë Deralla, was in Baghdad as a gendarmerie commander, where he married the daughter of a Turkish military personality, from whom Gajur Deralla was born and had the sign of Baghdad. After the arrival of the Young Turks, the Deralla family returned to Tetovo in 1909. With the Deralla's arrival in his homeland, attempts are being made for uprising and national independence, reaching the phase called semi-independence, which was signed in London, where Isa Boletini and Mehmet Pasha Deralla were not allowed to attend as military personalities. Mehmet Pashë Deralla, will later be recognized as a minister of war in the government of Ismail Qemali.
